Visceral & Elemental. Mary is a return to raw. She prowls through streets arresting attention. When she leans into corners you feel a sense of authority, which matches her unornamented beauty.

The completely original experience comes from the fact that Mary is an almost entirely handcrafted Bobber wrapped around a gorgeous 1983 Harley Davidson Shovelhead with a 4-speed trans.

Countless hours of design, fabrication, testing, re-testing, and meticulously poring over the finest details have made “Mary” something truly unique. Not a throw-back, not vintage, but something truly new and yet primal.

BUILD DETAILS

Mary is wholly handcrafted from the ground up, with exception of the neck of the frame and motor cradle.

The Completely Unique Chassis

The bike feels like nothing you’ve ridden.

We’ve built Mary from the ground up to give the rider a completely unique experience. The frame itself was re-crafted. For example, we stretched the frame 3-inches to the rear, providing the clearance needed to make room for rear HD air shock suspension.

However, what makes the experience of riding Mary the most unique is the completely custom, internally designed, two-wheel, mechanically-leaning frontend.

Mary is intuitive. She feels like an extension of the rider. She carves S-Turns like a serpent.

Quality and reliability were our first priority. All framework, including the frontend, was fabricated using high-quality DOM steel tubing (various diameters and wall thicknesses were used, the majority being 1.125” 120 wall).

The Motor

The classic 80” Shovelhead motor is just beautiful.

With perfection as our goal, we left nothing to chance and rebuilt the entire motor.

The jugs were honed and fitted with new sets of pistons and rings. The heads were machined to accept dual spark plugs. New valves, valve guides, seals, springs, and so on, were all replaced. To achieve the custom look we desired, we split and shaped the rocker boxes, then plumbed with hand-made stainless tubing oil lines and brass fittings. A Crane Cams HI-4 electronic ignition was installed, mated with dual Rev Tech coils and vintage style cloth plug wires and connectors.

To maintain the primal feel, we used vintage style cloth wiring throughout the bike, down to even the sparkplug wires (which are new, high-quality wires wrapped in cloth).

This 1340cc classic is fed by an S&S Super E carburetor fitted with a repurposed HD horn cover modified for use as the air cleaner. The straight pipe exhaust was also custom made, coated in matte black, and wrapped with titanium header wrap for both form and function. The motor was then dressed up with a combination of stainless steel and brass hardware.

For ease of use, we included 2 oil pressure gauges. One mounted on the “dash panel” that reads pressure at the pump and the other on the rear rocker box giving a visual reading ensuring the rider there is proper oil flow through the engine. Further, all motor and oil pump gaskets were replaced.

To build a deeper connection and enhance the primal feeling of the trike, we made Mary a kick starter. Her open-chain setup with a Rivera Primo diaphragm clutch pack transfers the power to the rear wheel via a final chain drive. Like the motor, the 4-speed transmission was cleaned and rebuilt.

TESTING

We do extensive testing on all builds prior to sale. This ensures safety and that each bike has an entirely unique and intuitive feel. Describing what riding a Barghest trike feels like in words is almost impossible. The experience is one-of-a-kind, intuitive. It feels like the trike is a part of you, an extension.

Each build has its own personality developed through hours and miles of test-riding. Our crafting process requires that each trike is ridden and re-worked so that we can confidently say, “this is completely unique.”
